New Parent Support in the DC Metro Area
Second Time Moms (And Beyond)
New Moms get a lot of help but usually the second (and third… and fourth…) time around you need just as much, if not more, support, and its all the more difficult to make the time for it. That's where this group comes in. This 6 week group will provide discussion and support around topics including:
- managing feelings unique to the experience of being a mom of multiple children
- feeling like you SHOULD know how to do this because you’ve done it before
- managing the logistics of two kids
- transitioning your older child to a new sibling
- managing guilt
- finding ways to connect mindfully with each child
- coping with idea of possibly being on your last child
Founded by two local moms, DC Baby connects new and expecting parents who live in upper northwest DC based on their due dates. We host free monthly gatherings and manage a Facebook group where members can ask questions, share ideas, and offer support. We also offer 6-week sessions where new moms come together to learn and share during this exciting, and challenging, time of our lives.

We will explore practical issues such as feeding and sleeping, as well as topics of emotional adjustment, identity, and relationship dynamics. We will ground our time of sharing with mindfulness, gentle movement, and other self-care practices. We ask that members commit to attending all eight sessions if possible. Space in the circle is limited to 10 mamas in order to build a deep, supportive community. The cost for the 8-week session is $295, due at the beginning of the first session. Intuitive Parenting – Kim Hawley
Childbirth Educator, Lactation Educator Counselor, Infant Sleep Educator, MA, MPH
I provide group and private education to help expecting and new parents feel empowered and prepared for childbirth, breastfeeding, sleep, and early parenting. My prenatal classes include childbirth education series, prenatal breastfeeding classes, and classes on understanding infant sleep. I also offer support to breastfeeding parents as they prepare to return to work as well as gentle, holistic coaching on family sleep. I am passionate about supporting families, in all the diverse forms they take, as they navigate the joys and challenges of becoming parents. There are many ways to respectfully birth, feed, and parent your baby. I believe parents feel most empowered when they are given factual information and encouraged to listen to their instincts. This
allows them to make the best decision for their family.
Everything is better with friends - including raising your baby! Come join a community of moms at Circle Yoga in Chevy Chase, DC for weekly conversation celebrating the joys and sharing the challenges of having a baby. We'll meet once a week to discuss feeding, sleeping, self-care, and more. All moms with newborns to pre-crawlers are welcome.
This open and supportive group of moms navigating parenthood will help get your questions answered, provide space to offer tips to others, and create lasting friendships for you and your little one. Mamas Circle is held in 6-week sessions throughout the year.
